Positions Description

Process Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer – Technical Ladder

Minimum Job Relevant Knowledge

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support daily on-line troubleshooting for safety, quality and delivery problems

  • Develop operation standards

  • Train associates on new or modified process changes

  • Monitor production processes and work methods

  • Collect, compile and analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve production processes

  • Performs cycle time studies

  • Assists line-side as needed if problems arise

  • Daily go to the spot reviews of process & product with shift-to-shift communication to understand real time issues and concerns

  • Support daily production as required

  • Develop & implement countermeasures to reduce the repetitive problems related to safety, quality & productivity

  • Develop & implement activity plans for projects and rotate PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) including budget, spec., schedule, management, start-up, evaluations, and presentations

  • Achieve daily quality & efficiency targets; develop activities to exceed the target

  • Communicate effectively with production & management associates

  • Facilitate 5S activity

  • Develop safety plans and ensure all processes meet safety requirements

  • Develop Poke Yoke countermeasures to ensure processes are "fool proof"

  • Monitor costs related to daily production activities

  • Develop reports to update management on line conditions

Daily Task Performed

  • Shift to shift communication to understand real time SEQCDM issues

  • Summarize data, analyze change points & implement countermeasures

  • Make quality adjustments to ensure in standard production parts

  • Track and record daily downtime data.

  • Attend communications meetings to understand line direction and activity

  • Monitor downtime activity and perform root cause analysis to improve conditions

  • Address safety concerns

Minimum Job Relevant Experience

  • 0-5 years in technical manufacturing role

Degree/Certification Required

  • Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology), or 2 years machining experience in technical role.

Required Skills

  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office

  • Communication and organizational skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills – determine root cause and countermeasure

  • Proficient in reading & understanding technical drawings

  • As required support off-shift & weekend department activity

  • As required travel domestically & internationally to support department activity

  • Available to work overtime and travel on short notice

  • Able to manage projects and meet schedules

  • Self-motivated

  • Able to work independently, or as part of a diverse team/support groups (production, contractors, suppliers)

Desired Skills & Abilities

  • AutoCAD experience

  • CNC programming experience

  • PLC programming experience

  • HMI & GOT programming experience

  • Ability to trouble shoot equipment and perform root cause analysis

  • Knowledge of machine components and operation

  • Able to lead meetings and present technical reports

  • Ability track and manage daily line KPIs and make adjustments as necessary

Environment Candidates will be working in

  • Machining area, coolant, mist, noise, slick floor

Estimated amount of overtime

  • 7-12 hours

Frequency average duration of travel

  • 10-15%
