The Associated Students is recruiting for a part-time Relief Supervisor in Sutter Dining. This is a part-time, non-benefited, non-exempt position that will work no more than 29 hours per week, 960 hours per fiscal year. The pay rate is $13.54/hour with no other benefits. The schedule is to be determined and may be subject to change based on department needs.

RELIEF SUPERVISOR - PART-TIME
DINING SERVICES
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Relief Supervisor will be responsible for the oversight of the service area for Sutter Dining to include directing the work of student employees, monitoring food presentation and quality, portion control, sanitation and general housekeeping.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, directs, and supervises customer serving area.
Acts as customer service point of contact for all customers. Addresses comments as needed.
Monitors food presentation and customer levels. Communicates possible shortages or surpluses of food products to production staff as needed.
Ensures proper sanitation, food handling, and safety in the serving area.
Arranges for prompt utilization of unused food.
Ensures a customer friendly environment is held to the highest service, cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and stocking standards.
Replenishes condiments, beverages, plates, cups, and silverware as needed.
Trains and directs the work of designated staff.
Removes and properly stores all food items on closing.
Monitors equipment functioning and reports problems requiring maintenance or repair.
Assists in event planning and employee trainings as needed.
Enforces all organization policies and procedures to include operations and personnel.
Works with the other supervisors and managers regarding operations, personnel and administrative problems. In the absence of management, assists full-time supervisors in the total operation of the Residential Dining Hall.
Represents department with the campus community, other organizations, and the public, establishing and maintaining good customer relations.
Other duties may be assigned.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a food service and kitchen environment; some exposure to heat, cold, and moisture; continuous contact with staff, campus community, and public.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stand and walk for extended periods; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; bend, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, reach; lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; verbal communication; use of food service and cash register equipment. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge of:
Principles, practices, and procedures of food serving operations and clean-up in a volume dining hall environment.
Operation, maintenance, and use of food service equipment.
Customer relations methods and techniques.
Food service sanitation and safety.
Principles of supervision, employee development, and performance evaluation.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, direct, and supervise assigned area in Dining Services facility.
Train and direct the work of assigned staff.
Establish and maintain good customer relations.
Insure that services meet the needs of the campus community.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships and at all times demonstrating cooperative behavior with a diverse population of staff, students, co-workers, and those contacted during the course of work.
Communicate effectively with a diverse population of staff, students, co-workers and others.
Work well under pressure: meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
Experience:
Six (6) months full-time or part-time equivalent experience in food and beverage or retail industries.
Experience in employee training and event planning preferred.
Education:
No special requirements.
Special Requirements:
Must currently have a California Food Handlers Card or a Serv Safe Certification or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
Post-offer, pre-employment physical required.
