Job Title: Quality Control Inspector - Chariton Distribution Warehouse
We now have an opening for a Quality Control Inspector in the Chariton Distribution Center Perishable Warehouse. The following partial job description explains this warehouse position. This is a benefited position.
This position receives, inspects, and accepts only the highest quality produce. Monitors produce on hand and ensures freshness is maintained. Prepares reports and communicates with produce purchasing department.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Monitors merchandise on hand and ensures freshness is maintained.
Controls the ripening of fruit, vegetables, and bananas.
Inspects inbound and outbound perishable products.
Prepares report on soft fruit, bananas, and aged inventory.
Works with receivers and selectors to ensure quality of merchandise.
Takes calls at home as needed.
- Reports to work when scheduled and works the expected number of hours.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (these are considered occasional in nature)
Performs special inspections when requested by purchasing and operations.
Assists in training of warehouse employees in quality control.
Adjusts computer inventory on hand balance when necessary.
- Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
Must be physically able to perform medium work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Possess the ability to compose original correspondence: follow technical manuals; and have increased contact with people.
Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more with or without correction, color vision, field of vision, and depth perception
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities:
Stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, standing, feeling, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, bending, and repetitive motions
Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
Must be able to solve practical problems.
- Must be able to perform simple addition, fraction, and subtraction problems.
The duties for this position are normally conducted in a warehouse environment. There is a constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day. There is a possible exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, and equipment movement hazards.
Equipment/Programs used to Perform Job
Telephone, computer, push cart with ladder, thermometer, knife, calculator, and warehouse equipment.
Has access to confidential information including knowledge of advertisements, credits, and merchandise costs.
Judgement on products received could cost us up to $50,000.
Occasional contact with store personnel, suppliers/vendors, and warehouse personnel.
Minimum Education/Experience Required to Perform Job
High school or equivalent experience. Previous experience in fresh produce helpful.
