Matheson, a leading manufacturer, processor, retail sales and distributor of welding gases and supplies has the following opportunity available at our Des Moines, IA facility.Cylinder PumperOverviewSUMMARYOperates power driven pumps that transfer gases to the appropriate cylinders by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Fills cylinders with a variety of gases with pumping equipment. Observes pressure gauges and flowmeters, and adjusts valves to regulate speed of pumps and control pressure and rate of flow of materials. Inspects cylinders before filling for defects. Tests medical gas cylinders for purity. Transfers cylinders to and from filling cages, trucks, and storage areas. Maintains pumps and lines by replacing filters and gaskets, tightening connections, and adjusting pumps. Connects pipelines between pumps and cylinders being filled or emptied. Records quantity of item pumped into computer. Inventories contents of storage tank. Assists with semi-annual inventories. Loads and unloads trucks. Helps out in the warehouse when neededLOCATION AND HOURS OF WORK Typical hours for this position are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and some Saturday hours at Tyler, TX site. This is a full-time position.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.ResponsibilitiesEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One to three months related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers, clients, vendors and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
