JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): The Laboratoty Technical Assistant – Phlebotomist II, or LTAP II, performs phlebotomy on patients of all ages served by the hospital. In addition, he or she also processses specimens for testing. The LTAP II also uses the laboratory information system to enter testing, determine medical necessity and look up results and direct reports to the appropriate entities. This position will also include point-of-care testing as needed. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: ? Training in an accredited program of phlebotomy preferred. College credit hours in clinically relivant education such as medical technology, anatomy, or patient care focused courses preferred. 1 year phlebotomy experience required.
EDUCATION: Relevant clinical experience evaluated on a case by case basis or Bachelor's degree preferred. Clinical knowledge of physiology and anatomy preferred. Previous experience as a clinical phlebotomist preferred. Has minimum 12 months experience in clinical laboratory.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: ASCP/AMT Phlebotomist certification preferred.
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
Rotating Shifts may be required.
