Overview
Reporting to Operational Excellence, the Associate Director of Training will manage the development, implementation and sustainability of site technical training solutions. This position will ensure employees and contract staff meet compliance requirements relating to knowledge, skill and practices necessary for her/his job performance and that they remain prepared to perform assigned tasks. This includes supporting all site functions including, but not limited to, Operations, Quality & Compliance, and Facilities & Engineering.
Responsibilities
Develops and executes site training strategy – including working with site stakeholders to determine learning needs and priorities and provides appropriate training to meet those learning needs.
Develops training resources within functional departments to be able to identify and solve learning needs as they arise. This takes the form of Trainer certification, coaching and feedback as well as providing system access and subject matter expertise on necessary Learning Management Systems.
Evaluate and enhance the current on-boarding structure for all new hires, including customizations of on-boarding plans for all roles and levels on the team.
Manages and develops direct reports by facilitating on-going performance management activities. Leads team members, fosters professional development and growth, and promotes teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
Develops departmental budget and operates within approved budget to maintain training center facilities and manage use of external training resources.
Develop training sessions and materials for existing employees ensuring all aspects of job responsibilities and expectations are met to improve efficiency, effectiveness and compliance and address gaps appropriately.
Accountable for aligning across the network.
Support policy and procedural changes and manual design to improve the quality of the department, to include scheduled review of all existing documentation, guidelines and materials. Evaluate and report on effectiveness of the changes.
Participate, review and interpret system release management documentation into materials for training all staff.
Develop and oversee departmental strategy and goals in alignment with site strategies.
Work as a training and competency expert with various teams and clients developing webinars and other presentations.
Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and departments.

Qualifications
Knowledge of science generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S in science, engineering, biochemistry or related discipline, or its equivalent is highly desired
Minimum 7 years of experience with at least 5 years designing and implementing programs and initiatives from needs assessment through delivery.
Minimum of 3 years management experience.
Bio-tech/pharmaceutical/GMP industry or experience in a highly regulated environment strongly preferred
Extensive knowledge of SOPs and GMPs and the know-how to work and manage within a regulated environment
Strong change management skills and demonstrated ability to simplify and improve business processes
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team with matrix reporting relationships
Adaptable to a fast paced, complex and ever-changing business environment
Effective verbal and written communications skills
Experience with quality management tools such as six sigma or TQM preferred.

Proven leadership skills and track record of success in managing direct reports and teams within a matrix environment
Excellent verbal communication, documentation and technical writing skills
Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills under resource constraints and time pressure
Demonstrated leadership in coaching, managing and mentoring new staff members
