Please review the following job description:


Coordinate and manage all functions related to pension plan benefit calculations, including designing the process procedures and system procedures, responsible for compliance and quality control in the benefit calculation arena, writes system script for plans, provides training and coaching to Benefit Calculation Analysts, project manager for complex benefit calculation projects, and performs peer review of benefit calculations. Attend client prospect meetings as required. Participate as a member of the actuarial services management team providing strategic observations and recommendations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.




  1. Develop and update benefit calculation and administration manual work product for clients.




  2. Develop and update work procedures for department to produce work product for clients in OMNIDBen and for manual procedures.




  3. Evaluate work procedures to develop efficiencies.




  4. Perform preliminary reviews of benefit calculations.




  5. Train new and existing team members on all OMNI and related systems and procedures for benefit calculation and data reconciliation.




  6. Review, update and implement processes for OMNI and related systems (plan convert, OMNIlink) for benefit calculations and data reconciliation.




  7. Review, create and update individual Plan OMNI setup, control files and scripts.




  8. Develop and update OMNI Script coding for bringing up and maintaining clients in the OMNIDBen environment.




  9. Review completed work of Benefit Calculation Analysts.




  10. Attend client prospect meetings.




  11. Act as the Project Manager for large benefit calculation projects such as terminations, early retirement windows, plan freezes, etc.




  12. Design, maintain and implement training program for analysts to ensure they have the knowledge and the ability to meet the standards of their job descriptions.




  13. Assist analysts in solving benefit calculation problems and other work related problems or obstacles to ensure timeliness and accuracy.




  14. Participate in weekly production meeting.




  15. Coordinate plan terminations.




  16. Verify that plan amendments and documents are reviewed by assigned analyst.



  17. Oversee that procedures are correctly followed by team members.


Required Skills and Competencies:

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training




  2. Seven or more years experience with an actuarial firm performing calculations




  3. Excellent math and communication skills with attention to detail




  4. Must be able to read and interpret legal documents pertinent to pension law and regulations




  5. Microsoft Suite knowledge



  6. Ability to travel as required
