Analog Devices Inc.âs (ADIâs) Aerospace and Defense (ADEF) Applications team guides the development of customer solutions to support new electronic designs. The ADEF team engages with major top tier customers in the aerospace and defense market to define product roadmaps and sector strategies, understand future system requirements, and identifies new and emerging ADEF technical opportunities as they relate to ADI.
ADIâs Aerospace and Defense business has on open position for an Applications Engineer specifically supporting the Missiles and Smart Munitions along with Aviation business unit. munitions. The selected candidate will be critical in directly supporting strategic designs, customer advisement and growth initiatives.
This role requires experience and in-depth understanding of electrical design, certification, interface and environmental concerns involved in the Aviation Electronics Industry along with the ability to support Missile and Munitions applications.
This position will report into the Aerospace & Defense Business Unit Applications team. The incumbent will report into either Greensboro, N.C. (preferred) or Chelmsford, M.A. Other locations can be considered.
Support ADI ADEF marketing and applications team to create new electrical designs, evaluate strategic developments, lead customer technical visits, support marketing initiatives and define ADI products. Support the greater team with expertise across entire Aerospace and Defense market space.
Lead the development of Missile, Munition and Aviation specific reference designs, technical collaterals and circuit integration in support of key customers and the general market
Work with customers and the applications team to determine product gaps and propose new products where necessary with the supporting business justification.
Support Customer design efforts with existing and upcoming devices, from prototype to production stages. Review system diagrams, analysis, schematic and final assembly drawings
Remain current on technical trends, regulations and opportunities that will impact ADIâs ADEF business
Contribute to market intelligence with technical evaluations of customers and competitorâs products, government publications and end user applications
Support trade shows and the creation of customer demonstrations
The successful candidate will have the following characteristics:
Bachelorâs Degree equivalent or higher in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computer Engineering (Hardware Focus) or equivalent work experience will be considered. Military training and experience in missiles, munitions and avionics will be considered in lieu of a formal engineering degree
Minimum of 5 years in commercial or military aerospace design or integration â preference given to candidates with experience in Missiles and Munitions - consideration can be given to adjacent marketspaces which use similar technology designs
Should have demonstrable knowledge of physical layer data communications designs, isolators, amplifiers, resolvers and power management circuits as it relates to Aerospace
Should have a general knowledge of MEMS Gyroscopes and Inertial Measurement Units and/or advanced guidance and stabilization design
General understand of antenna requirements and implementation along with FPGA / DSP and device level control software programming
Experience with any of the following is beneficial: Fusing Systems, Missile Guidance, Stabilization, Warheads / Seekers, high acceleration design, GNSS, ADS-B / Transponders, FMS, RMS, Autopilots, NavCom, SatCom and/or ADAHRS
Demonstrated understanding of DO 160/178/254/331 requirements in aircraft electronics or a background in automotive functional safety
Ability to design solution from single component through complete buildable signal chain
Strong lab and characterization skills relating to electronic components
DER/DAR understanding or experience desired
Solid communication and presentation skills
Robust analytical and problem solving skills
This position requires exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). As such
