Description of Work


This work will be performed in various sections at Central Prison Healthcare Complex, Raleigh, NC. Mental Health and Med Surg Departments 12 hour day (5:45am - 6:15pm) and night (5:45pm - 6:15am) shifts available. Every other weekend off. The CNAI performs the following duties under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. This position will assist RNs, LPNs and CNAII's in providing care, treatment and services within their scope of practice, such as obtaining vital signs, weight, height, preparing the patient for examination, etc. as trained and within the scope of practice. Assists patients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, clothing, toileting, turning and repositioning, ambulation, etc. Transport patients safely using appropriate means. Observing patients and reporting observations to the nurse. The CNA will collect label specimens such as blood, urine, feces, and sputum as trained within scope of practice. Changing linens and making beds. Keeping patient rooms clean and orderly. Engage in therapeutic actives with patients such as group therapies and recreational activities in mental health. Actual shifts will be discussed at the time of interview.

Listed below are the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) associated with this position. These KSAs, along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed "eligible" for the position. Therefore, you must demonstrate through documented experience or provide supporting information within the body of your application to demonstrate your possession of ALL KSAs listed.

  • Certified as a Nursing Assistant and registered on NCNAR.org;

  • Active CNAI certification

Management preference:

  • At least 6 months CNAI experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
