JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to ensure that operations, equipment, processes and procedures to produce and assemble products are in place to meet quality, cost, and efficiency requirements. Has a thorough understanding of Jergens’ products, processes, and capabilities. Trains and directs assigned engineering staff to meet the company’s objectives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Has a thorough understanding of Jergens’ products, processes, and capabilities to serve our customers.Provides technical support to ensure that operations, equipment, processes and procedures to produce and assemble products are in place to meet quality, cost, and efficiency requirementsServes as a technical representative of the company in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers and providing solutions to their technical needs.Reviews customer and other applicable drawings to determine requirements and/or product feasibility.Troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action.Defines and solves manufacturing/design issues and implements cost reduction ideas.Researches alternative processing methods and the purchase of new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.Redesigns processes for better efficiencies and to lower manufacturing costs.Partners with the quality function to define problem areas and implement improvements.Partners with purchasing regarding vendor quality managementReviews test methodology and data analysis Leads value engineering projectsProvide technical support to manufacturing cost reduction initiativesTrains and directs assigned engineering staff to meet the company’s objectives.Maintain an awareness of changes in customer technical needs and industry trendsMaintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required.Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations.Leadership ResponsibilitiesSafety: Employee safety, acceptable ergonomics, and supporting business methods.Goals and Objectives: Develop and maintain current job descriptions and set appropriate objectives/goals for staffPerformance Management: Train, motivate, monitor, and evaluate staff and take corrective action as necessary to correct performance issuesCustomer Satisfaction: Ensure an effective response to the needs of external and internal customersMEASUREMENT CRITERIA: Success in providing technical support to ensure that operations, equipment, processes and procedures to produce and assemble products are in place to meet quality, cost, and efficiency requirementsSuccess in training and managing the performance of assigned staff in providing technical support to the organization and customers in an effective, timely, and safe mannerSuccess in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers and internal resourcesLevel of awareness of changes in customer technical needs and industry trendsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical engineering is required. A master’s degree and P/E certification is preferred . Has the necessary training to be proficient in the position.A minimum of 3 to 5 years of engineering experience with a precision assembly and manufacturing operationHas hands-on experience designing efficient work cells and product assembly workflow for multi-item product linesHas a strong customer orientation and is able to effectively communicate, build relationships, present ideas, and partner with internal resources to meet customer needsHas excellent computer skills and is proficient with all related company systems and programs such as Solid Works and Auto CadHas strong analytical and problem solving abilitiesEffective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demandsHigh energy with a sense of urgency in responding to customer needsHigh level of personal and professional integrityIs committed to the company’s valuesAttention to detail in maintaining required records and reports.To learn more about Jergens, Inc., visit us on the web at www.jergensinc.com .
