Marketing Content Developer

Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI), has a job opportunity for a Marketing Content Developer at our corporate campus in Lancaster, PA. Playing a key role in the voice of the Armstrong Flooring house of brands, the Marketing Content Developer will generate smart, impactful, and informative content and copy that effectively communicates AFI and our products. This person will work closely with the Marketing team to scope, prioritize and track deliverables, as well as assist in other copywriting capacities as needed, such as blog posts, marketing headlines and copy, informational copy and print copy. Combine creative storytelling skills with the unique voice of AFI to create and execute brand-right content that resonates, engages and elicits emotion from defined target audience groups. Generate copy for a wide variety of marketing programs and deliverables, to include collateral, digital, promotions and brand marketing initiatives. Share ideas and collaborate effectively across teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Storytelling:
Develop compelling and original creative concepts and stories backed by a sound strategy.
Articulate a point of view that helps shape the strategic direction of content development.
Help build effective strategies that translate consumer insights into meaningful, on-brand creative content solutions.
Develop the AFI community through our brand voice, creative execution and co-development of strategy and tactics.
Maintain high awareness of communication trends; new/emerging technologies and platforms; home, fashion and design industry trends.
Produce copy that is on brief, on strategy, and on brand, writing in various styles within the brand framework for diverse audiences.
Contribute to a wide range of print and digital projects, including advertising, collateral, signage, media, video, sales tools, events, packaging and promotions.
Deliver polished work for creative reviews and finished work to level desired by Art Director and brand marketing leadership.
Ensure the AFI brand voice is represented consistently across all projects, retail channels and platforms.
Develop and maintain messaging matrices and archives.
Continually evolve our overall best practices and writing processes to achieve a high level of efficiency and proficiency.
Project Management & Teamwork:
Produce creative concepts and copy quickly, effectively and efficiently.
Work effectively with Art Director and marketing team to ensure timely development and seamless implementation of all elements for all initiatives.
Demonstrate a sense of methodology and process behind work. Articulate and advocate for work clearly, respectfully and professionally.
Demonstrate a willingness to do whatever it takes to make the creative solution stronger; always be open and respond constructively to new ideas, direction and feedback.
Proactive in generating ideas and anticipating needs of the department and company.
Occasional travel for conferences, trade shows or similar activities may be required (~5%)
Four year degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing or Advertising required.
Minimum 3 years of experience copywriting and content creation in advertising, digital marketing, journalism or publishing.
Creative work portfolio.
Brand marketing experience.
A love - and a powerful command - of the English language. Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills. Experience writing product content with SEO best practices in mind.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong conceptual skills with knowledge of how copy relates to art, design, graphics and typography in 2-D, 3-D and electronic mediums.
Ability and desire to work in a very fast-paced, high volume, hands-on, multi-task work environment.
Practices active listening and is able to accurately digest and execute on direction, yet still demonstrate independent initiative and thought process.
Ability to translate the behavior and motivation of audience segments into appropriate content and messaging.
Ability to adapt writing style / “voice” within the brand framework to effectively communicate with distinct audiences and mediums.
Demonstrates an exceptional work ethic with meticulous attention to detail.
Proficient computer skills, especially MS Word
A willingness and desire to continually challenge own creativity.
Possesses a creative spark and drive to do great work with a positive attitude and willing to go the “extra mile” when necessary.
