Job Description Summary
The Clinical Nurse Educator (RN) is responsible for contributing, developing, implementing, and evaluating on-going educational and instructional programs (sometimes virtual) for the company. Primary focus of all education is to ensure that policies/procedures and regulatory body standards are met at all times. This position will work collaboratively with the Education Department Staff.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Assess current and future training/educational and instructional needs across the company to include all disciplines and shifts.
Assure quality education and training by utilization of authoritative resources and best practices.
Plan, implement and evaluate programs to meet assessed needs and regulatory requirements through a collaborative effort with Operations, QAPI, Senior Leadership, etc.
Utilize various training techniques to optimize staff learning; included may be lecture format, printed materials, hands-on demonstrations, role-playing, group sessions, one-on-one training, unit-based instruction, virtual delivery, etc.
Develops and maintains continual education support materials to be used for reference once training has been completed.
Develop, implement, teach and evaluate staff competency programs, which will demonstrate accepted practice standards. This is to include annual skills testing.
Continually assess, evaluate, implement training progress and training procedures to monitor and analyze course effectiveness and update curriculum as needed.
Design and continuously improve and adapt curriculum, depending upon educational needs.
Consults with managers and supervisors to assess training needs and utilize as a resource for training.
Develops training program calendar/schedule in collaboration with the Director of Education as needed.
Establish and maintain comprehensive methods of continuing education for all nursing personnel.
Provide educational support to all nursing staff personnel consistently throughout their orientation period and further as needed.
Participate in various education initiatives and activities as needed.
Provides various methods of delivery for training and education.
Uses positive tone of voice, being pleasant and courteous both by phone and in-person.
Provide patient and courteous service to customers, introducing yourself with smile and direct eye contact when you greet them (caregivers, patients, associates, all customers).
- Performs other specific job duties, functions, and responsibilities including supervision, as assigned by the Director of Education and/or Chief Compliance Officer.
Minimum of Associates Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred
Current Multi-State RN License
Proficient with Microsoft Office
A minimum of one year experience in educational program development in healthcare.
Experience in planning, developing, presenting and evaluating educational programs preferred.
Possess excellent knowledge of Hospice preferred.
Must be able to teach guidelines and regulations accurately, efficiently and independently.
Possess ability to work effectively with and to motivate people.
Able to facilitate and support change.
Demonstrate ability to problem solve, set priorities and exercise sound nursing judgment.
Strong writing skills including knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar and office procedures.
Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
Aptitude for technology and use of current software systems.
