Don's Johns has an opening for a Route Supervisor!
Under the guidance of the Director of Operations, performs route supervisor and/or dispatch duties. Supervision encompasses all field operations including: assisting in investigating accidents; customer complaints; vehicle breakdowns; monitoring the performance of service technicians. Dispatch functions encompassing supervision and coordination of Dons Johns service routes and technicians. Monitors work assignment board on daily basis to ensure all work is properly assigned and completed. Communicates with employees coordinating changes in work loads and notifies proper authorities in emergencies, breakdowns or upon service technician's request. Covers route in emergencies and/or times of staffing shortage. Maintains appropriate paperwork. Answers phones and fields calls. Provides field supervision of Dons Johns Pick-up and Delivery services, special events and other activities, including Safety observations and training. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or required as growth and change in business dictates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Supervises service routes and service technician performance on a daily basis, performance reviews and driver feedback.
-Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities. Coordinates daily operational needs with Dispatch team.
-Plans, distributes, monitors, and follows-up daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreements.
-Supervises the end-of-day check-in process, capturing and communicating key service, safety, and equipment issues.
-Monitors driver and laborer time and attendance, minimizing overtime and ensuring that drivers do not exceed limits established by regulatory agencies.
-Reviews weekly demand / volume for routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommends re-routes to the router/scheduler.
-Sets and monitors productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver.
-Assists with data collection and reporting required for incentive pay programs.
-Works with functional groups to resolve employee relations and labor relations issues.
-Ensures that drivers comply with physicals, drug or alcohol tests, and training required by regulatory agencies.
-Visits customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues, seeking service alternatives where appropriate.
-Establishes and maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance within Don's Johns standards.
-Documents problem fixes and provides instructions to dispatch/service should problems recur.
-Communicates and follows-up on sales opportunities, problems at customer site, DVIR repairs, container swaps, and safety issues reported by drivers.
-Notifies customer service of delivery days for specific areas.
-Ensures set-up errors and missed deliveries/pickups are reported and resolved.
-Reviews and audits documentation related to route operations on a daily basis (e.g., Driver Vehicle Insepection Reportss, driver time and attendance, open orders), following-up where appropriate.
-Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by Director of Operations
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
-Required: Associates Degree or equivalent experience in transportation, logistics, or portable sanitation operations or similar.
-Preferred: Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience, and zero to three years previous experience in transportation, logistics, or portable sanitation operations.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
-Valid Drivers License and clean driving record
-Current DOT card or the ability to get one
-CDL preferred but not required
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
-Bilingual a plus (English and Spanish)
-Ability to work long hours and weekends, or flexible shifts
-Proficiency with computers - Microsoft Office and others
-Able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
-Able to lift 70 lbs., climbing, bending, twisting and repetitive movements.
-Excellent time management skills; ability to multi-task
-Detail Oriented
