CONTRACT SPECIALIST IIITHE OPPORTUNITY
The Texas Department of Information Resources serves a wide spectrum of customers including Texas state, county or local government offices, and public education entities of all sizes by leveraging bulk buying power that enables eligible customers to buy IT products and services at aggressive discounts without the need for a lengthy procurement process.The Chief Procurement Office interfaces with major IT companies, DIR customers, and the public in performing their roles. DIR is a fast-paced and collaborative environment with energetic and engaged employees dedicated to achieving the best value for the state. We are a state agency utilizing private industry best practices, including tele-work opportunities, to improve overall state functionality.The individual in this position performs advanced (senior-level) technical writing work. Responsibilities involve the composition, organization, and editing of compiled information as well as creating material for review and approval. Works under limited supervision of the SARC Manager with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement, considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

WHAT WE DO
The ideal candidate will have the ability to highlight their strengths in the following functions:
Composes, reviews, and edits technical documents, materials, and reports. Develops, prepares, maintains and disseminates policies and procedures for the Chief Procurement Office. Consults with staff in the development of content, graphics, and the layout of communications. Researches and evaluates current documentation tools and methods; sharing knowledge for continuous improvement. Collaborates with CPO Management, under SARC Management direction, to collect, organize, analyze and prepare program documentation (CPO Audits). Prepares, plans and schedules CPO communications for delivery, distribution, and online publishing. Prepares and refines material for public dissemination such as electronic publications, presentations and reports. Will perform related work as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in English, business administration, journalism, technical writing or communications-related degree.
Additional related work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical writing, communications, or journalism and minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing projects, preferably related to electronic reporting and developing policies and procedures
