Edelman’s Seattle office is looking for a seasoned PR practitioner within its technology practice. We are seeking an Account Supervisor to join our growing team of talented and collaborative communications professionals who provide a diverse client base with expert counsel in media relations, story and content development, communications and event planning, and influencer engagement. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your communications expertise, creative brand storytelling prowess, and understanding of the integral role public relations plays in all facets of technology. You will also have the opportunity to participate in new business and marketing integration efforts.
This candidate is highly proficient and enthusiastic about all aspects of media relations and story development (traditional and digital/social media channels) and is passionate about a wide range of technologies. S/he will be a strong writer, trend spotter, media engager and creative brain-stormer who isn’t afraid to share ideas and opinions.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of, and experience in, the technology industry as well as corporate and executive communications. Experience working on larger, fast-paced, integrated, mediagenic accounts is important.
An account supervisor is responsible for managing her/his project teams’ performance as it relates to client service and quality control. Expected competencies include:
Demonstrate proficiency in media relations, including creating and driving outreach plans, message development, management of events, coordination of media familiarization trips, effective pitching and training of spokespersons on speeches and presentations and growth of contact network
Play a major role in the research, planning and development of comprehensive public relations campaigns
Serve as daily client contact and as client lead
Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence
Help set client program goals and manage against them
Demonstrate proficiency in writing skills to craft internal and client correspondence, communications plans, press materials, new business proposals, etc.
Generate original ideas for sustainable online community engagement, help integrate them into plans, measure and evaluate them to ensure they contribute to client goal achievement
Oversee junior staff’s work products to ensure quality and consistency
Set achievable goals and tasks, delegate opportunities and provide resources for staff to meet their goals; consistently measure and reward goal achievement
Build network of industry clients and participate in relevant professional organizations and networking activities that will grow Edelman brand recognition and your own reputation
Contribute to new business process, including identifying new business opportunities
Participate in cross-practice and cross-geographical teams to provide clients and prospects with the most compelling team and proposal
Effectively work within account budget parameters and deadlines
Manage day-to-day client budget issues to resolution
Track and monitor project financials (e.g., budget vs. actual)
Help ensure Edelman’s financial policies and processes are followed by your team

The account supervisor must have 4-5 years of relevant experience in communications marketing and/or related fields including public relations, media and publishing and research
S/he should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a proven ability to manage large projects as well as small teams on one or more sizable accounts
S/he will have a comprehensive understanding of his/her clients’ businesses and their missions, as well as their key stakeholders: consumers, employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners and other businesses/organizations, etc., and will be able to impart this knowledge to account team members
S/he will have excellent written and verbal communications skills
S/he will have demonstrated ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit the work of others at or below his/her level
S/he will be able to work with senior staff to develop and execute communications plans based on client goals
S/he will be familiar with best practice communications tactics and public relations tools and will be able to recommend them to his/her clients
S/he will have the ability to act as a daily client contact and to be responsible for client-related finance management, including managing large projects within budget
