Summary:


Drive truck with capacity under 26,000 GVW to transport materials to and from specified destinations, such as Donor Service Centers (DSC), plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards. Must pass background and driver record check and proof of personal insurance.


Other Requirements:


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least one-year related experience. Over 21 years of age. Ability to pass Department of Transportation Physical and Drug/Alcohol test(s), including pre-employment screening. Ability to operate various forklifts and other lifting devices and complete Goodwill certification process for use of said equipment.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


Supervise truck helper during pick-up and delivery operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:



  • Provide exemplary customer service to internal (employees) and external (donors) customers.

  • Safely drive truck to destination.

  • Complete receipts and/or required documentation for load delivery and/or pickup.

  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.

  • Load and unload truck.

  • Collect donations from donors at place of residence during home pick-ups.

  • Maintain a courteous, respectful, and friendly attitude with the public.

  • Maintain established grooming standards according to GIIN dress code policy.

  • Always approach and greet each donor in a friendly manner and thank the donor.

  • Collect donations from donors at place of residence during home pick-ups.

  • Inspect truck, equipment, and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Complete vehicle inspection form on a daily basis.

  • Perform minor emergency roadside repairs such as installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs and belts.

  • Utilize blocks and tie ropes to secure cargo during transit.

  • Provide excellent internal (employees) and external (donors) customer service.

  • Use material handling equipment such as hand truck, pallet jack, and lift gate.

  • Effectively sort, store, and process incoming donations according to established company standards in the appropriate workstations.

  • Safely load, and unload materials onto or from pallets, carts, totes, trays, racks and shelves by hand or by utilization of lifting devices and/or employee assistance.

  • Safely load and unload materials onto or from vehicles, convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas using hand truck, pallet jack or other lifting devices and/or employee assistance.

  • Effectively sort and stack materials including incoming donations in a safe and organized manner according to company standards avoiding either damaging or soiling donations. Ensure that donations with multiple parts, (i.e., lamps and lampshades) are kept together.

  • Follow all policies, procedures, and directives of Goodwill Industries assuring safety of personnel or property.

  • Work collaboratively with Workforce Development and Social Services to provide client services.

  • Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain agency confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality is cause for immediate dismissal.

  • Comply with all health, safety and fire standards and all local, state and federal regulations (WISHA & OSHA).

  • Other duties as assigned.
