We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to oversee the implementation and administration of environmental, health and safety programs at our Newport, WA facility. This position reports to the facility Operations Manager, with an indirect report to the VP/General Manager. Will also work closely with the EHS Management teams at other facilities.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
â¢ Ensure that all implemented programs are enforced and followed throughout the company.
â¢ Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal occupational safety, health, and environmental laws, regulations and guidelines.
â¢ Maintain and improve companywide environmental, health and safety programs, policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
â¢ Improve the safety culture of the company through on the floor presence, presenting safety training, and other promotion of information.
â¢ Develop additional written programs and objectives to develop safe work practices as needed.
â¢ Advise and train the various departments regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, to include WISHA, PSCAA, DOE, NFPA/IFC fire codes, and others.
â¢ Solid knowledge and experience with worker's compensation program and requirements.
â¢ Administer emergency management programs designed to respond to potential situations within the aerospace composite industry in order to improve overall safety.
â¢ Provide leadership for safety committee activities.
â¢ Monitor and inspect facilities to ensure compliance with company safety policies in accordance with all regulations.
â¢ Conduct on-site investigation of accident and incidents. Prepare reports and make recommendations as appropriate.
â¢ Conduct risk assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring and ensure regular facility inspections are conducted to eliminate, minimize and control existing and potential hazards.
Keep up to date on current federal, state and local regulations, legislation and changes in safety codes.
â¢ Administer Industrial Hygiene activity including respirator fit testing, air monitoring, noise control, and ventilation.
â¢ Direct the movement of all hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other materials to approved downstream destinations.
â¢ Maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in the industry as it pertains to safety.
â¢ BS in EHS or equivalent work experience required.
â¢ Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience required.
â¢ Experience in managing safety programs in a manufacturing environment preferred
â¢ Strong knowledge of the requirements, and experience with the implementation of OSHA and ISO certifications
â¢ Thorough understanding of federal, state and local regulatory authorities, including, but not limited to: EPA, OSHA, DOT, Ecology, PSCAA, etc. and familiarity with other local, state and federal requirements.
â¢ Effective presentation skills required
â¢ Positive communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service attitude.
â¢ Must be proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft office suite).
â¢ Strong problem solving skills.
â¢ Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping system & procedures.
â¢ Must be able to work in multi-group environment.
â¢ Some travel to other facilities may be required.
â¢ May be required to work extended hours from time to time.
