We value the expression of ideas and the willingness to collaborate on solutions.POSITION SUMMARY: This position will work within Excelsior's Therapeutic Recreation program providing direct client services in outdoor and indoor recreational activities.Responsibilities and DutiesAssesses clients therapeutic recreation needs through observation, tests and collaboration with agency therapeutic recreations specialists and applicable employees.Creates recreation plans and programs that meet clients needs and interests.Encourages clients to acquire new skills and get involved in health-promoting leisure activities.Provides hands on instruction to program participants.Is aware of and consistent with the service components of Excelsior clients; seeks information as needed to ensure clients service plans are being adhered to.Administers and may be accountable for monthly recreation budget; including a monthly report detailing all expenditures.Maintains therapeutic recreation equipment and supplies as needed for activities; ensures supervisor is aware of any equipment malfunctions or needs.Attends workshops and continuing education events which aid in strengthening this area of the program.Qualifications and SkillsBachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.Ability to obtain Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist credential preferred.Experience in planning, scheduling and directing recreational and leisure activities.Ability to administer Standardized Recreation Therapy assessments.Ability to work with a diverse population staff and clients.Minimum one year experiencing working and/or volunteering directly with youth; prior experience with at-risk population preferred.Ability to work in a fast paced environment and make ethical and safe decisions.Ability to manage individual stress and perform essential job functions in a safe and professional mannerMust be 21 years or olderAble to pass criminal background check.Valid drivers license.Benefits30-60 day wait period from initial date of employment until benefits become active.Dental Care: Delta DentalHealth care : Kaiser PermanenteVision: VSPVacation Hours: 40 hours initial year.(accrual of sick/vacation hours starts after 30-60 day wait period)Sick time: 8 hours per monthLife Insurance: Met Life (employer sponsored $25,000 policy)Supplemental Life : Met LifeAflac supplemental insurance for cancer, accident, disability, hospital, etc.Employer pays employees portion of L&I taxes.Flexible spending plan for medical and dependent care.Visit our website at www.excelsioryouthcenter.com to learn more about us.Job Type: Full-timeRequired experience:Recereation services: 1 yearRequired education:Bachelor'sJob Location:Spokane, WA
