Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week plus more to meet project deadlinesJob Summary:
The marketing communications specialist works under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President and assists the AVP/Marketing in the development and execution of the Bank's public relations and marketing communications plans consistent with Peoples State Bank branding, strategic marketing objectives and within budgetary guidelines. Works with management to develop and implement public relations and communication strategies to publicize and promote Bank activities, products and services, and manages media relations, charitable contributions and event planning. Provides marketing support for internal departments, branch locations and public relations programs.Primary duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for producing and publishing persuasive content that tells the Peoples Story through high impact marketing communications campaigns that generate media attention, heightened public awareness and community support.
Assists AVP/Marketing in developing public relations and communications strategy and implements campaigns and activities that increases the Bank's visibility and involvement in the community. Coordinates all sponsorships, charitable contributions and corporate donations.
Serves as overall public relations coordinator; responsible for news release writing and distribution. Establishes and maintains media relationships, pitches stories, identifies additional PR opportunities and handles media interviews.
Develops, writes and distributes material for the bank's external communications vehicles to support marketing objectives and overall brand, including newsletters, sales sheets, articles, scripts, letters, brochures and other marketing communications materials for customer communication, sales and marketing efforts.
Works as integral part of the marketing team to correlate compatibility of advertising, sales promotion programs, customer correspondence and public relations activities for consistent and integrated approach to Bank marketing communications.
Serves as backup to digital marketing specialist for social media and website content.
Develops an annual plan for and implements special events including annual shareholder meeting, branch events, trade shows, seminars, open houses, and community events to promote growth and development of the community and a positive image for the bank.
Serves as primary liaison to branches for marketing communications, sponsorship and events. Coordinate branch displays, signage and banners to support marketing campaigns.
Works with AVP/Marketing to coordinate marketing communications and promotional campaigns to achieve maximum effectiveness including advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, and communications.
Assists in annual budget preparation; effectively works within the budget; monitors, records and controls promotion and public relations expenses.
Seeks new innovations in financial marketing initiatives; foster strong, collaborative relationships with internal leaders and branch managers, as well as vendors to optimize campaigns.
Performs other marketing duties as assigned.
Desirable education, experience & skills:
Bachelor's degree preferred in marketing, communications, journalism, advertising or related field. Minimum of Associate's degree in related field and 5 years of related experience. Proven ability to develop and execute high impact marketing and communications campaigns. Solid understanding of PR and marketing communications strategies, channels and techniques. Media relations experience required.
Self-motivator, problem solver and excellent team player. Effectively listens to others and makes clear and effective oral presentations. Strong written and oral communication skills.
Adapts to change in the business environment in ways that help marketing stay on top of industry trends. Completes work in a cost effective and timely manner to meet deadlines yet demonstrate flexibility and agility to meet changes in work environment.
Strong computer skills. Requires proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
