Under the supervision of the Manager, Infection Prevention, #the Infection Prevention Specialist is familiar with hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAI); educating employees about infection prevention; and assists in the development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet TJC, OSHA, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other nationally organized agencies recommendations and requirements. Education:# #Bachelor#s Degree required # Licensure: Registered Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of California or Med Tech California State Licensed (CLS). RN preferred.# If out of state must obtain license / certification within 6 months of hire # Experience: A minimum of three years prior work experience, preferably is an acute care hospital, performing Infection Control / Prevention functions required.## Knowledge of patient care practices, education, epidemiology, infectious diseases, employee health, sterilization/disinfection/sanitation processes. Experience in implementation of regulatory and/or The Joint Commission initiatives and National Patient Safety Goals. Direct experience in a healthcare profession and/or dealing with clinical healthcare providers across a healthcare organization preferred. Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional clinical teams.# Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Working knowledge of statistics and ability to independently utilize computer programs including Word and Excel, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, analysis and report writing. Ability to learn data management systems as required. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to acute care facilities surrounding Infection Prevention and Control. Effective time management and multi-tasking skills. Effective writing skills # Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization and physicians. Ability to effectively influence others. Ability to escalate quality issues in order to improve patient outcomes and/or organizational performance. Effective listening and conflict resolution skills. Essential Sensory Requirements: Must be able to hear, see, verbally communicate, and have tactile sense.   • Education: Bachelor's Degree required
