LSI's Refugee and Immigrant Services team seeks a Lead Employment Navigator to support the Career Pathways program in Des Moines.
The Lead Employment Navigator supports the Refugee Education Program by assisting the Career Pathways Supervisor with management of the Career Pathways program.Lead Navigator will provide supportive services to students enrolled in the program which will include assessment of student's needs, employment and educational goals. To address student barriers, the Lead Navigator will work closely with students to problem solve transportation and child care concerns, explore career and training opportunities, and make referrals to community and educational agencies. The Lead Employment Navigator will increase each student's ability to meet their education/employment goals through the course of the program.
Must maintain student information systems, track student assessments, career development plans, and progress. Will facilitate workshops and work readiness courses, schedule workshops and track attendance. In addition, the Lead Navigator will serve as an additional support to the team of Employment Navigators. The Lead Employment Navigator will maintain and build relationships with community partners, educational organizations and employers.
Required: Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience in career counseling, work readiness instruction or providing services to refugees; or an Associate's degree and three years of experience in career counseling, work readiness instruction or providing services to refugees; or a High School Diploma/GED and five years of experience in career counseling, work readiness instruction or providing services to refugees.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Linguistic appropriate skills to meet the needs of the clients are desired but not required.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
