Reporting to the Executive Director of R&D Business System Pharmacovigilance (PV), the Director of Business Systems Oversight for PV is accountable for providing leadership of business system strategies and operations of established capabilities for PV. This leader is accountable for PV system capabilities, supporting all phases of product development and lifecycle management. This role drives strategic direction for PV business system capabilities in an integrated way across all research and development functions. This role represents the R&D Strategic Operations organization at both internal and external forums on PV business system capabilities.

  • This position will report to the Executive Director of Pharmacovigilance Business Systems Oversight within Innovation & Information Management within Strategic Operations in the Research and Development organization of our company.

Organization Scope


Primary Responsibilities


The Director of PV Business System Oversight is accountable and responsible for the following activities:




  • Leads business system capabilities that the pharmacovigilance organization, partnering with external parties and other internal R&D functions where appropriate.




  • Develops, drives, and executes long term vision and strategy for PV business systems to help drive business outcomes.




  • Provides industry expertise and practical knowledge of current and emerging technologies and processes approaches within PV.




  • Influences leaders to see new opportunities for enhanced PV business system capabilities.




  • Proactively identifies new capabilities and enhancements that will improve research and development operations.




  • Represents the strategic operations organization at both internal and external forums on PV business system capabilities.



  • Ensure high ethical standards and a culture that values honesty, integrity, and transparency.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience




  • Bachelor's degree in a business, scientific, or operational discipline relevant to the life sciences and/or operations areas is required




  • 10+ years of PV business system capabilities




  • 3+ years of leading, managing, and mentoring teams




  • Must have proven track record to be able to think critically, strategically, independently and problem solve




  • Must have high level of motivation, drive, and demonstration of company leadership values




  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to write clearly and concisely




  • Top notch interpersonal skills in difficult situations




  • Driver of change and innovation




  • Ability to work seamlessly with all levels of personnel




  • Demonstrated sensitivity and knowledge of cultural differences with experience in multi-country, multi-cultural environments and demonstrated success with cross-geographically based cultural collaborations



  • Excellent SharePoint and Excel skills
