The Chemical Mechanical Planarization manufacturing business is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Engineer at the site in Newark, Delaware. This business unit is part of DuPont's Electronics and Industrial Division. Electronics and Industrial is comprised of a number of high growth global businesses supplying a broad array of materials to multiple consumer electronics and industrial sectors. The CMP facilities consist of polymer manufacturing, film coating, and numerous converting operations such as buffing and finishing.

The role provides technical expertise to improve our competitive advantage for the manufacturing of CMP pads. The Manufacturing Technology (MT) Engineer is recognized as a leader and expert in that technology and leads teams to upgrade processes and products that may range from incremental improvements to major technology changes. A primary focus is to partner with vendors to specify and design manufacturing machinery such as presses, laminators, CNC lathes, or a completely customized solution for novel applications. Additional responsibilities may include developing improved production and control strategies that impact process safety, yield, quality, plant capacity and uptime performance. This role will work closely with other technical personnel both as internal customers and internal stakeholders.


  • Machine specification and design

  • Small team leader (with area and project engineering) to prioritize, coordinate and execute efforts for the projects of responsibility

  • Identifies and works with technical personnel to develop best practices for process(es)

  • Drives product by process through development and documentation of manufacturing standard process

  • Design process improvements (yield, quality, uptime, capacity release)

  • Implements large programs and/or process improvements

  • Leads troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex issues

  • Responsible to ensure adequate basic data is created for CapEx projects and provides resourcing support (e.g. development and/or Plans for Commissioning, Decommissioning, Start-Up and Shut Down)

  • Responsible for the qualification of new equipment

Minimum qualifications:

  • Technical Degree (BS, MS) in Mechanical Engineering, minimum 5 years experience

  • Previous machine design and specification experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Web Handling experience

  • Industrial plant experience working with PSM critical processes/systems

  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve or help others solve equipment and/or process issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team based environment

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; must work well in both self-managed and team environment
