About The Job

As the Area Business Manager (ABM) for Balikpapan, you will play a pivotal role in driving MBI’s commercial performance in East Kalimantan. You will lead the execution of our sales strategy in the field, manage the distributor, and coach the sales team to deliver strong results across all channels. This role requires strong leadership, structured execution, and solid understanding of FMCG distribution dynamics.

Job Purpose And Impact

The ABM role is designed to ensure our commercial strategy is executed effectively at the area level. You will be responsible for turning plans into real impact in the market, improving availability, visibility, distribution quality, and customer relationships.

Your success directly influences the area’s business growth, distributor performance, and the overall contribution of Balikpapan to national targets. This role carries high ownership and requires a proactive, hands-on approach to solve challenges in the field. #DoSomethingThatMatters

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive area sales performance to achieve volume, revenue, and distribution targets.
  • Ensure strong distributor performance through daily coordination and KPI monitoring.
  • Execute sales fundamentals and trade programs consistently across all channels.
  • Conduct regular market visits to ensure availability, visibility, and price compliance.
  • Lead and coach the sales team to improve productivity and capability.
  • Identify market opportunities, competitive threats, and propose actionable solutions.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strengthen customer relationships and expand outlet penetration in General Trade, Modern Trade, and On-Trade.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and commercial guidelines.
  • Drive a high-integrity, performance-focused, and accountable team culture.

CANDIDATE CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant major.
  • 4–6 years of experience in FMCG sales, trade marketing, or distributor management.
  • Strong understanding of FMCG distribution, sales execution, and trade fundamentals.
  • Proven experience in performance management and distributor management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • High integrity, hardworking, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Demonstrates high ownership and willingness to solve problems on the ground.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Willing to be based in Balikpapan and travel within the area.
