Job Summary
The Hull Assistant Manager supports the overall management of hull treatment operations for new building and ship repair projects, ensuring activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory, quality, and environmental standards. The role assists in planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring while coordinating with internal teams, clients, and contractors to achieve project milestones and commercial objectives. Additionally, the position contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, budget control, reporting, and the development of manpower capabilities within the department.

- Oversee and manage all hull treatment activities onboard new building (NB) projects and Ship Repair vessels.
- Ensure effective delegation and control of manpower and resources to achieve optimum productivity.
- Monitor the welfare of department personnel and identify training and development needs.
- Conduct continuous performance appraisal of department personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, quality standards, environmental standards, and occupational health & safety (OHS) procedures.
- Plan, implement, and drive continual improvement in safety, quality, environmental performance, and overall productivity.
- Develop and maintain a succession plan within the department.
- Liaise and coordinate with regulatory bodies, clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to meet operational and commercial requirements.
- Ensure company and project milestones, as well as commercial targets, are achieved through effective planning, logistics, and execution.
- Evaluate and assess the performance of consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Provide comprehensive technical inputs and supporting documentation to Commercial and Purchasing departments.
- Ensure efficient work processes and optimal utilization of equipment.
- Prepare, control, and monitor departmental budgets.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the General Manager (Production) / AGM Prod.
- Comply with all Safety Rules and Regulations in accordance with the company’s Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
Preferred Experience
- Min 10 yrs experience in shipyards/ship repair-related hull treatment works as Assist Manager Hull Treatment.
- Must be fully conversant of standards, for shipyard, marine and offshore vessels etc.
- Able to understand and estimate the vessel hull, tanks and the structure (in Cumtr) and able to quantify the work.
- Good communication skills, written and spoken English language is must.
- Able to plan all HT Job related activities on vessels and able to co-ordinate with different subcon and supervise/control the jobs as per given plan/schedule.
- Physically fit and able to work for extended hrs to meet the job quality & schedule. To be in positive frame of mind.
- Must be able to decide the critical activities for the jobs and able to give good solutions to the client/project for the jobs when schedule is very short.
- Able to communicate effectively with owner reps/clients, project manager and paint reps etc. Who, believes in the work
- Computer skills, able to generate work done report etc (Advantage)
- Be available for the works as required by the dept.
- Diploma/Degree
- Good communication, written & spoken English.
- Computer Skills – not essential
- Min 7-10 yrs Shipyard experience in hull Treatment Asst Manager position.
