Course Description

This basic automotive technology course is offered as the first of a 2-year automotive program. The course gives students the basic knowledge of auto service facility operations. Curriculum is focused on safety, tool usage, and operation of an auto mechanics auto service facility. Areas of study include brakes, steering, suspension, and engine mechanical and basic automotive maintenance. Students are offered ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) approved curriculum with hands-on experience.

Course Objective

Student Outcome

To have developed the proper work habits, attitude, skills and ethics necessary to become employed or have a sound foundation to continue in Automotive Technology II. To pass certification tests in steering, suspension, and brakes.

• Certifications: NATEF / ASE National Certifications in brakes, steering, suspension. Local 2-year CTE Skill Certificate upon successful completion of the 2-year program at the Pankow Center.
