ROLE PURPOSE
The Facility Engineer provides specialist electrical or mechanical engineering support to the site operations team, ensuring critical infrastructure systems are maintained, troubleshot, and optimized to the highest reliability standards. The role bridges day-to-day shift operations with deeper engineering analysis, capacity planning, and project support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Facility Engineer provides specialist electrical or mechanical engineering support to the site operations team, ensuring critical infrastructure systems are maintained, troubleshot, and optimized to the highest reliability standards. The role bridges day-to-day shift operations with deeper engineering analysis, capacity planning, and project support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide engineering-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical (switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs) or mechanical (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling towers, piping) systems as specialized.
- Review and validate MOPs/SOPs for technical accuracy prior to execution on critical systems.
- Support capacity planning and load analysis for electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Partner with the CMMS Planner to review PPM scope, task instructions, and OEM maintenance requirements.
- Lead or support commissioning, retrofit, and capital improvement projects at the site.
- Provide technical mentorship to Shift Technicians and Day Technicians.
- Analyze BMS/EPMS trend data to identify early signs of equipment degradation.
- Support vendor management for specialist OEM contracts, reviewing service reports and escalating non-conformances.
- Participate in the on-call escalation roster for critical incidents outside normal shift coverage
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in critical facility, industrial, or data center engineering.
- Deep technical knowledge in one core discipline (electrical or mechanical) with working knowledge of the other.
- Experience reading and marking up single-line diagrams, P&IDs, or equivalent engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with BMS/EPMS platforms and trend analysis.
- CDFOS (Certified Data Centre Facilities Operations Specialist) is preferred
- Local electrical/mechanical competency license would be an advantage
