Mechanical Engineer (Hydropower / Expat)

Global Hydro is an international leader in hydropower technology and solutions, headquartered in Austria with subsidiaries worldwide. Our Indonesian branch supports the country's growing renewable energy sector through engineering, commissioning & installation, and project management.

As a Mechanical Engineer in Indonesia, you will work closely with our experienced CAD team in Tangerang and serve as a technical link with our HQ in Austria. Your focus will be on ensuring designs meet the highest international standards for production and assembly. This is a hands-on specialist role where you will collaborate with the local team, provide technical guidance, and personally validate complex designs. Team leadership and day-to-day management remain with our local managers. Your mission is to contribute additional technical expertise and international alignment.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification)
• 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design
• Expert knowledge of CAD software (Solid Edge or comparable 3D/2D tools)
• Strong focus on accuracy, cost-awareness, and production feasibility
• Structured, analytical, and independent working style
• Good English skills (German or Indonesian beneficial but not required)
• Motivated, hands-on, and driven by technical excellence
• Bonus: experience in training or mentoring engineers (technical focus)

• Act as the technical bridge between HQ Austria and the Indonesian CAD team
• Personally validate and ensure the correct execution of 3D/2D designs for production and assembly
• Share best practices, tools, and quality methods with colleagues
• Support the team in optimizing constructions in terms of cost, deadlines, and manufacturability
• Collaborate with the local manager to address technical challenges and provide solutions
• Mentor colleagues on CAD techniques and design quality (technical coaching)
• Travel approx. 2x per year to Austria for coordination and training
