Open Position: Mechanical Maintenance Roll Covering

Job Description Summary

As a Mechanical Maintenance Roll Covering, you will be responsible for executing rubber covering processes on rolls, including preparation, extrusion/application, and monitoring of covering operations to ensure product quality meets specifications. The operator performs machine setup, process control, and visual inspections while maintaining adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP), safety regulations, and production targets.

The role also involves coordinating with related functions (material preparation, maintenance, and quality) to ensure smooth workflow, minimize defects, and achieve efficient production performance. The operator is expected to maintain cleanliness, proper documentation, and continuous improvement in the covering process.

Work Complexity & Impact

Involves operating and controlling multiple process parameters (temperature, speed, pressure) that directly affect product quality. Must handle variations in roll specifications, materials, and production requirements.

Involves troubleshooting basic machine and process issues under time constraints. Requires coordination with multiple functions (material preparation, QC, maintenance) during production. Work is a mix of routine operations and situational problem-solving when deviations occur. Plays a key role in maintaining workplace safety and compliance in the covering process.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor rubber covering machines (e.g., extrusion, wrapping, curing or application equipment) according to SOP.
• Prepare rolls and materials before the covering process, ensuring correct specifications and cleanliness.
• Set up machine parameters (temperature, speed, pressure) based on process requirements.
• Perform in-process inspections to ensure rubber covering quality meets standards (thickness, uniformity, length, sample test material on specification).
• Identify and report any abnormalities, defects, or process deviations immediately.
• Coordinate with material preparation, quality control, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth production flow.
• Conduct minor troubleshooting and basic maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure proper handling and usage of raw materials to avoid waste and defects.
• Follow all safety procedures, use PPE, and maintain a safe working environment.
• Perform housekeeping (5S) in the work area to ensure cleanliness and organization.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce defects, and improve efficiency.
  
  

Requirements

• Minimum educational requirement D3 in Mechanical Engineering. (Open for Fresh Graduate)
• 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in rubber processing, extrusion, or covering operations.
• Basic knowledge of rubber covering processes, extrusion, and material handling.
• Ability to operate and adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, speed) according to specifications.
• Understanding of quality standards and inspection methods (thickness, surface finish, bonding).
• Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and process-related issues.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Good attention to detail and strong commitment to product quality.
• Physically fit and able to work in a production environment (standing, lifting, shift work).
• Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with production, QC, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and proper use of PPE.
• Willingness to learn and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
