Client Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing mining company focused on the redevelopment and operation of a major gold mining project in Papua New Guinea. With a strong commitment to operational excellence, sustainable mining practices, and long-term resource development, the company is investing significantly in modernizing its mining operations, strengthening its supply chain capabilities, and building a high-performing procurement organization to support expanding production activities.

Operating across multiple locations including corporate, logistics, and remote mine-site operations, the organization places strong emphasis on governance, procurement compliance, operational efficiency, and uninterrupted supply to support safe and cost-effective mining operations.

Job Role

The Procurement Coordinator plays a critical role in coordinating the end-to-end procurement process to ensure goods, equipment, materials, and services are sourced, purchased, and delivered efficiently while complying with approved budgets, procurement policies, and governance standards.

Working closely with operations, logistics, warehouse teams, finance, and suppliers, this role supports uninterrupted supply to mining operations through effective purchasing, supplier coordination, logistics management, and procurement administration.

Two Procurement Coordinators will operate as an integrated procurement team, supporting seamless procurement activities between the corporate procurement office, the logistics hub, and the remote mining operation.

  • Review purchase requisitions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with procurement policies.
  • Source competitive quotations from approved suppliers and conduct market comparisons to achieve value for money.
  • Support commercial negotiations involving pricing, delivery schedules, and supplier terms.
  • Raise, manage, and monitor Purchase Orders using the company's ERP and procurement systems.
  • Track supplier progress and expedite critical procurement activities to minimize operational delays.
  • Coordinate Purchase Order amendments and ensure procurement documentation remains accurate and complete.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, freight providers, and service vendors.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding, qualification processes, and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Resolve supplier issues relating to quality, delivery performance, invoicing, and contractual compliance.
  • Coordinate logistics activities including shipment scheduling, freight prioritization, customs documentation, import coordination, and delivery tracking.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to monitor inventory levels, identify critical stock shortages, and support replenishment planning.
  • Assist Finance by matching Purchase Orders, invoices, and goods receipt documentation while resolving invoice discrepancies.
  • Maintain procurement records, prepare procurement reports, and support internal and external procurement audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, operational efficiency, supplier performance, and cost effectiveness.

Candidate Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably within mining, construction, heavy industry, manufacturing, or other operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end procurement processes, purchasing administration, supplier management, and procurement governance.
  • Experience using ERP procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong commercial awareness with negotiation and supplier relationship management capabilities.
  • Experience coordinating logistics, freight, inventory replenishment, or import/export activities is highly advantageous.
  • Contract administration or procurement certification (such as CIPS) is considered an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to procurement compliance and governance standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in fast-paced and remote operational environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across operations, logistics, finance, and external suppliers.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required.
