A Remittance Officer in the banking sector is responsible for managing, processing and overseeing money transfer transactions (both domestic and international)
Job Descriptions
- Check and process remittance transactions from branches via the core banking system and send outgoing messages relating to remittance transactions
- Register remittance transactions in either IDR or foreign currencies as specified by the Bank
- Process and notify the SKN/RTGS department of incoming IDR remittances
- Conduct correspondence with correspondent banks
- Prepare daily reconciliations for both incoming and outgoing remittance transactions
- Ensure that all transactions comply with banking regulations, bank policies, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) rules.
- Propose improvements and updates to standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to remittance transactions
- Prepare reports on transaction volumes and revenue for the bank’s internal or external regulators
General Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum qualification of a Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Economics, Accountancy, Banking, Management or a related subject.
- Experience: At least 1–3 years’ work experience in the banking industry (particularly in branch operations, payment centres or back office functions), or more depending on the position level.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in banking operational systems and remittance workflows (SKN, RTGS, SWIFT).
- A strong understanding of local and international regulations, as well as AML/CFT.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Soft Skills: Good communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the ability to work under pressure
