Sr. Backend Engineer I - Investment

Role Overview

As a Sr. Backend Engineer I in the Investment team, you build and maintain the backend services that power stock trading: orders, market data, portfolio and transaction history. You deliver well-defined features with high quality, grow quickly in system design, and help keep a platform running that investors rely on every trading day.

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs for stock trading and portfolio features.
• Deliver features from technical design to production, with tests, monitoring and alerting.
• Make sure all process related with financials, quantities and prices are handled accurately, with safe retries and clear audit trails.
• Integrate with internal systems and external parties such as exchange, clearing and bank connections.
• Write clean, well-tested code and take part actively in code reviews.
• Investigate production issues, find root causes and help ship lasting fixes.
• Improve performance and reliability, especially around market open and peak trading volume.
• Work with Product, Operations and Compliance to turn requirements into reliable solutions.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: 4+ years of professional backend engineering, including running services in production.
• Languages: Strong in Java, Go or another modern backend language.
• System Design: Good understanding of microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven design and reliability basics.
• Data & Messaging: Hands-on with relational databases (query tuning), caching (Redis) and messaging (Kafka).
• Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), containers and CI/CD.
• Mindset & Domain: Ownership mindset and clear communication. Experience in capital markets, brokerage, payments or another regulated, high-traffic environment is a strong plus.
