The Opportunity:
As the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, you will function as a direct extension of the CEO's office, wielding significant influence and responsibility for the day-to-day operational success of the company. This role demands a leader who can not only execute directives but also proactively identify opportunities for improvement and empower departmental heads to achieve peak performance. Your core responsibilities will encompass:
- Direct Strategic Alignment & Control: You will act as the CEO's primary lieutenant in ensuring that all departments including but not limited to production, supply chain, quality control, sales, marketing, and administration are operating in strict accordance with the CEO's overarching strategies and specific directives. This involves rigorous monitoring of departmental activities, implementing robust control mechanisms, and proactively addressing any deviations or roadblocks.
- Driving Operational Excellence & Efficiency: A key focus will be on analyzing existing departmental workflows and identifying areas for optimization. You will be expected to implement strategies and initiatives that empower departmental leaders and their teams to enhance efficiency, improve productivity, and streamline processes. This may involve the implementation of lean manufacturing principles, process re-engineering, and the adoption of best practices.
- Facilitating Seamless Internal Communication: You will serve as a central point of contact and a critical communication conduit between the CEO and the entire internal workforce. This requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to clearly articulate the CEO's vision and expectations, and the capacity to effectively cascade information across all levels of the organization. You will also be responsible for fostering open communication channels and ensuring a cohesive internal environment.
- Ensuring Leadership Continuity During Strategic Shift: During a crucial five-year period where the CEO will be intensely focused on establishing and leading a major Product Development initiative identified as the company's core strategic direction for the future you will assume significant operational leadership responsibilities. This will require the ability to effectively "step into the CEO's shoes" operationally, ensuring the continued smooth functioning of the existing business units, maintaining stability, and driving ongoing performance while the CEO focuses on this critical strategic project. This necessitates a deep understanding of the company's operations and the ability to make sound, independent decisions.
- Extensive Senior Leadership Experience: A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience, with a significant portion in executive management roles such as Vice President, COO, or a directly comparable position with substantial operational oversight.
- Deep Operational Expertise in Manufacturing: A comprehensive understanding of operational management principles, methodologies, and best practices is essential. Experience within a manufacturing environment is critical, with a strong preference for the electronics manufacturing sector. Experience in other complex, high-volume manufacturing industries will also be seriously considered.
- Proven Ability in Strategic Execution & Control: A demonstrable track record of successfully monitoring, controlling, and enforcing strategic directives across diverse and complex organizational structures.
- Expertise in Driving Efficiency & Productivity: Significant experience in leading and implementing initiatives that have resulted in tangible and measurable improvements in departmental efficiency, productivity, and overall operational performance.
- Exceptional Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, coupled with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. The ability to build strong relationships at all levels and effectively communicate complex information is paramount.
- Strategic Thinking & Alignment: A strong strategic mindset with the capacity to understand and fully align with the CEO's vision and translate that vision into actionable operational plans.
- Demonstrated Decisiveness & Independence: Proven ability to lead autonomously, make sound and timely decisions, and take ownership of operational outcomes.
- Industry Knowledge (Preferred): While not strictly mandatory, prior experience within the electronics manufacturing sector or closely related industries will be a significant advantage, providing a deeper understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities within this market.
