We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead our technical team in Indonesia. This is not a role for a manager; it is a role for a builder. You will own the technology, drive a high-performance culture, and be a key leader in our journey to become the undisputed global leader in our category.

The Challenge & Opportunity

As our Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for transforming our development function from a supportive team into a strategic growth engine. You will report directly to the CEO and be accountable for the team's velocity, the quality of our platform, and our ability to innovate at speed, especially in leveraging AI. You will be the technical partner to the CEO, representing Chronicle in high-stakes conversations with global technology partners.

Key Accountabilities

1. Build a High-Performance Engineering Culture:

• Drive a culture of excellence, ownership, and anti-fragility, where challenges are met with courage and discipline.
• Set and enforce elite standards for code quality, velocity, and reliability. We don't ship bugs.
• Mentor, coach, and manage the performance of the engineering team, developing A-players and making tough decisions when necessary.
• Attract, hire, and retain top-tier engineering talent that aligns with our ambitious growth targets and core values (Courage, Achievement, Togetherness, Service).

2. Drive Growth Through AI & Product Innovation:

• Partner with the CEO and Product Manager to shape and execute a technology strategy that directly supports our $5M ARR goal.
• Champion the aggressive adoption of AI across our development processes and within our product to create a significant competitive advantage.
• Lead architectural decisions to ensure our platform is scalable, secure, and prepared for global expansion with minimal latency.

3. Own Technical Excellence & Strategic Partnerships:

• Serve as the senior technical voice of Chronicle, confidently and articulately representing our technology to major partners, investors, and enterprise clients.
• Establish and manage clear performance metrics (Velocity, Lead Time, Sprint Achievement, Bug Rate) to drive accountability and predictable delivery.
• Lead our cybersecurity and compliance strategy, ensuring the robust protection of sensitive client data.

Who You Are

• A Proven Leader of High-Performing Teams: You have 7+ years in software development and at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role (Head of Engineering, Senior Tech Lead, Engineering Manager) within a high-growth SaaS company. You have a track record of leveling up teams and holding them to the highest standards.
• A World-Class Communicator: You possess exceptional, fluent English communication skills. You can command a room, articulate complex technical strategies with clarity and conviction, and build confidence with executive stakeholders.
• An AI Pragmatist and Enthusiast: You have a deep, practical understanding of how to leverage AI to accelerate development velocity and deliver product innovation, not just a theoretical interest.
• Architecturally Sound: You have proven experience leading teams across the full tech stack (Django, Angular, GCP, Docker, CI/CD) and have owned architectural decisions for scalable, secure web applications.
• Highly Organized & Results-Obsessed: You are a master of process and planning. You thrive on data and metrics, using them to drive efficiency and make decisions. You don’t just absorb pressure; you use it to create diamonds.
• Mission-Aligned: You resonate with our purpose to build meaningful, human-centered technology that honors heritage and community legacies.
• Ready for Bali: You are willing and excited to relocate to Bali, Indonesia, to lead our team on the ground.
