With a rich history of excellence in designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide, we are now offering exciting new opportunity for a Mechanical Technician within our Embedded Generation business to support our contract on the Leeds Generating Station complex.

Equans Embedded Generation operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

We are experts in many technologies, including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers’ sites we provide our customers with industry leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint and assured energy security for their operational needs.

Key activities

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of all mechanical systems on site. They are and Authorised Person for Medical Air systems, under HTM02.

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring that all work carried out on or around the GSC’s mechanical systems is done so in a safe manor. They shall maintain these systems on both a planned and reactive basis to ensure their safe operation whilst also ensuring sufficient availability of plant.

• Mechanical systems on site are compliant with relevant statutory & business requirements due to being maintained to a suitable standard.
• Provision of Mechanical Services is maintained to the client through proficiently planned and executed interventions where required.
• Plant availability is high as reactive maintenance is carried out in a thorough and timely manor.
• Planned outages run smoothly, and breakdown time is minimised through well controlled and available spare parts.
• Audits run smoothly through high levels of record keeping of both maintenance activities and any safety documents produced.
• Safety levels on site are maintained to a high standard through well controlled work on mechanical systems and timely reaction to unsafe situations.
• Mechanical work is thorough and complete due to well-kept and up to date schematics, SOPs and manuals.
• Authorised Person for Medical Gas systems on site.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• City & Guilds (or Equivalent) Level 3 apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
• GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths essential.
• Ability to work systematically
• Able to fault find on mechanical systems
• Can work well under pressure.
• Computer literate
• Knowledge of mechanical testing processes.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical legislation and industry standards.
• Able to read mechanical schematics and single line diagrams.
• Able to work autonomously, is self-motivated but also able to work within a team dynamic.
• High level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Intricate knowledge of site electrical systems.
• Potential to train to gain GasSafe and/or F Gas certification
