This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Travel Requirement: 10% (domestic)

What You Will Do

As a Packaging Engineer at Caterpillar’s Batam facility, you will be responsible for developing and implementing packaging solutions that ensure product integrity, optimize logistics, and meet global standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Design and Validate Packaging Solutions: Develop packaging concepts for inbound and outbound parts, cost estimation, and compliance with Caterpillar’s global standards. Validate packaging through trail pallet review and ensure part integrity during transportation and storage.
• Develop Returnable and D2L Pallets: Collaborate with packaging design team to design and implement returnable and D2L (Direct-to-Line) that optimize space utilization and streamline assembly processes.
• PSS Validation for Legacy Parts: Review and validate packaging specification sheets (PSS) for existing parts to maintain compliance with updated standards.
• Support Aftermarket and MSO Packaging Validation: Develop design through packaging design review and validate packages for aftermarket parts and MSO (Managed Service Operations) to ensure timely delivery and quality packaging standards.
• Drive NPI/NSI Packaging projects: Take ownership of packaging design review and implementation of packaging material for all new parts and suppliers introduction projects. Ensure packaging solutions meet Caterpillar’s global standards for safety, quality, and cost efficiency from the inbound suppliers.
• Communication and Coordination Act as a liaison between internal CFT and external stakeholders, provide regular updates to leadership on Packaging projects, and work with Product service team to claim customer feedback on improved packaging.

What Skills You Should Have

• Packaging knowledge: Strong knowledge of Packaging materials, characteristics, packaging standards, design validation and sustainability practices are mandatory.
• Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
• Confidentiality: Knowledge of practices and policies governing disclosure of information about the organization, its business activities, and employees; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
• Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  
  

What Will Set You Apart

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in Packaging domain - preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industries environment.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English (Primary) and Bahasa Indonesia.
• High ethical standards, handle critical projects, meet target timeline and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  
  

Physical Requirements (With Or Without Reasonable Accommodation)

• This job requires extensive active movement throughout the plant including climbing stairs and steps, lifting H2K parts, and validating the pallet and relevant packaging products.
