Job Purpose:
The Poolman is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of the swimming pool and its surrounding areas. The primary goal is to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for hotel guests, adhering to the highest quality standards and sanitary regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pool Maintenance
- Keep the pool clean by removing debris, cleaning the water surface, and scrubbing pool walls.
- Monitor water levels and ensure compliance with established standards.
- Regularly clean filters, pumps, and circulation systems to ensure optimal functionality.
2. Water Quality Control - Test chlorine levels, pH, and other chemical parameters to ensure water safety.
- Add chemical reagents as needed to maintain water quality.
- Maintain logs of water quality checks for monitoring purposes.
3. Technical Maintenance - Identify and repair pool equipment issues, such as pumps, filters, and lighting systems.
- Perform timely replacement of consumables (e.g., filters, pumps, etc.).
- Monitor and maintain pool heating systems (if applicable).
4. Safety Assurance - Conduct regular inspections of the pool area to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
- Check the condition of pool accessories like ladders, handrails, and loungers.
- Inform guests about pool usage rules and safety precautions.
5. Collaboration with Other Departments - Coordinate with technical staff to resolve complex malfunctions or issues.
- Work with housekeeping to maintain cleanliness and order in the pool area.
Competencies and Skills:
1. Professional Skills - Knowledge of basic water treatment chemistry and pool equipment operation.
- Ability to perform minor repairs (filter replacement, pump repair, etc.).
- Understanding of sanitary norms and safety regulations related to pools.
2. Physical Fitness - Maintain good physical condition for regular cleaning, technical maintenance, and monitoring tasks.
- Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and water quality.
3. Personal Qualities - Responsible, reliable, and dedicated to ensuring guest safety and satisfaction.
- Ability to work under pressure and remain focused on physical tasks.
- Strong work ethic and readiness to tackle physically demanding work.
4. Communication Skills - Ability to interact politely with guests and provide clear explanations about pool rules.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues for smooth operations.
Candidate Requirements:
Education: Secondary vocational education (preferably in technical fields or pool maintenance).
Work Experience: Previous experience in pool maintenance, hotel operations, or technical fields is preferred.
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of pool chemistry and equipment maintenance.
Language Skills: Basic English proficiency (preferred for guest interactions).
Working Conditions:
Flexible work schedule, including weekends and public holidays.
Work on hotel premises, including both indoor and outdoor pools.
