Job Purpose
The job purpose of sales in a shipping company revolves around generating revenue by selling shipping services and solutions to customers. Sales professionals in a shipping company are responsible for identifying and acquiring new business. This involves prospecting, networking, and building relationships with potential customers who require shipping services for their goods. Additionally, maintaining strong relationships with existing customers is crucial. Ultimately, the goal is to meet or exceed sales targets set by the company. This involves developing and executing sales strategies, forecasting sales volumes, and regularly reporting on progress.
Key Responsibilities :
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of shipping operations, logistics, international regulations, and shipping documentation.
- Knowledge of international regulations, customs, and maritime law.
- Customer service orientation : Commitment to delivering high-quality service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Clear and Persuasive Communication: Ability to articulate value propositions and complex information clearly and persuasively, while actively listening to and understanding customer needs.
- Relationship Building: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills to close deals and handle objections effectively.
- Time management and organizational skills: The ability to manage multiple customers effectively
- Strong knowledge of market conditions, customer behavior, and the ability to propose action plans.
Qualifications and Expertise :
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Economic, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is often preferred.
- Proven experience in sales, with a minimum of 2 years, particularly in B2B sales, is required.
- Prior experience working in the shipping or maritime industry can be a significant advantage.
- Competence in spoken and written English is required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets, developing new business, and managing client relationships.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs, and industry developments.
- Time management, as business operates within specific cycles, and markets often experience anomalies, requiring effective time management.
- Strong adaptability and responsiveness to changing business needs and priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- In a global shipping industry, fluency in multiple languages can be an asset, especially if working with international customers.
- Location : Semarang city, Central Java.
