SAMPOERNA ACADEMY - LABORATORY ASSISTANT (3 MONTHS CONTRACT)

• Preparation of laboratory practicals, including set-up and breakdown as per teachers’ requests, testing such labs and equipment beforehand to ensure a successful learning experience
• Ensuring all laboratory equipment is in good working condition, clean, stored in a safe manner and inventoried periodically.
• Ensuring adequate supply of equipment and materials is always available
• Responsible for checking the orders upon delivery to ensure orders are complete and in good condition.
• Safe storage and removal of harmful chemicals and equipment
• Keeping track of materials borrowed by teachers and students
• Maintaining general tidiness and organization of the laboratories at the end of each workday
• Labeling, organizing and storing chemicals and materials with awareness of safety issues, and inventory periodically.
• Mixing of chemicals required for experiments.
• Storage and disposal of chemicals, chemical compounds and waste materials in a safe manner.
• Being proactive in matters relating to Health and Safety
• Assisting the teacher in supervision of laboratory practicals when needed
• Assist teachers in conducting experiments, if instructed.
• Assisting students in carrying out experiments, when necessary, under the guidance of the teacher

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Science or related field
• At least 1 year of working experience, preferably in an educational institution and with laboratory background.
• Familiar with Cambridge curriculum
• Knowledge of current lab safety regulations
• Knowledge of general science, biology, chemistry, and physics
• Ability to manage a science laboratory and relevant chemicals & equipment
• Prior working in a science laboratory
