Job Overview:

The Senior Principal QHSES Assurance Spec is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that broadly impact the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the Management and direction of the business. They are considered a Spec in the field of QHSES Assurance and Regulatory Compliance, and they offer a broad knowledge base about the Quality function. They impact the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and work within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal QHSES Assurance Spec role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to QHSES Assurance challenges.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Initial Phase – Pre-Fabrication and Early Fabrication Activities

• Conduct receiving inspections for structural steel and piping materials to ensure CE marking compliance.
• Collect and verify supplementary certificates for the CE technical documentation file.
• Review and align welding and NDT procedures with CE requirements.
• Support the Quality team in interactions with Lloyd’s Register (LR) and other Notified Bodies (NOBOs).
• Monitor traceability of materials and welding consumables per CE standards.
  
  

Fabrication & Module Erection Phase – Until Mechanical Completion

• Provide ongoing support to the QA team in managing regulatory interfaces with LR and other certifiers.
• Perform compliance inspections during fabrication and assembly to ensure adherence to CE and EN standards.
• Conduct walk-downs to verify installation and condition of Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) and compliance with ASR (German workplace safety regulations).
• Verify compliance with WSV (German Waterways and Shipping Administration) requirements for lighting, marking, and navigation safety.
• Track and document non-conformities related to regulatory compliance.
• Facilitate audits and inspections by third-party certifiers (multiple bodies expected).
• Maintain up-to-date regulatory documentation for review.
• Support ATEX-related activities.
  
  

Pre-Load-Out Phase

• Continue supporting third-party certification and final inspections.
• Ensure completion and sign-off of all technical documentation.
• Oversee installation and updates of safety signage, escape route markings, and hazard identification in line with EU and German regulations.
  
  

Offshore Phase

• Support the Commissioning Team in ensuring regulatory compliance during offshore commissioning.
• Verify interface compliance between systems and certified components.
• Ensure operational parameters (e.g., frequency monitoring) meet certification standards.
• Coordinate with LR and other certifiers for final offshore approvals and documentation close-out.
  
  

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, English, Communications, or Engineering
• At least five (5) years of Quality / Industry experience, Document Management is a plus
• Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with project requirements
• Ability to understand and positively respond to organizational demands in a continuously changing business environment
• Proven ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies to overcome challenges in construction projects
• In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, project management principles, and industry best practices
• Demonstrate strong decision-making skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills for evaluating trending data
• Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with other departments in a tactful and effective manner
• Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken
• Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Strong attention to detail
• Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
• Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
