Our engineering organisation which has grown multi-fold in the last 3 years in pace with our company’s growth and we are now expanding our senior leadership team in Asia to drive engineering excellence and grow the Bandung site. We are seeking a Director of Engineering and Site leader in Bandung to lead and scale our multi-region engineering team.
As a director of Engineering, you will collaborate with peers in the CTO organization and own the engineering strategy, delivery and people leadership. Your objective will be to accelerate the delivery of new features based on the product roadmap and innovate within the mature product.
Strong people leadership is key - attracting, mentoring, and retaining top talent to build a high-performance culture. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with PMs, Support, Finance, and HR to drive impactful outcomes. A deep technical background in SaaS, security, cloud, or data is essential to guide architecture, tooling, and future-proofing initiatives.
As a site leader, you will oversee the smooth functioning of the Bandung product engineering site. You will work with the local functional leaders of Product, Administration, HR, Finance while maintaining a connect with the global stakeholders of these departments. Your objective is to drive better outcomes from the site and maintain an energetic and harmonious ecosystem within the organisation.
Work Arrangement
- Full-time position
- Hybrid work model (2 days per week in the office)
- Monday to Friday, 5-day work week (flexible work schedule)
- Eligible to reside and work in Bandung (Indonesian citizenship only)
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Alignment & Delivery – Align engineering strategy with business objectives, understanding market trends, customer needs, and product value propositions.
- Technology Leadership – Define and drive the technology roadmap, selecting the right tools, frameworks, and architectural direction in partnership with the Stakeholders.
- Product & Implementation Strategy – Set and execute goals for cost reduction, new product launches, platform upgrades, and tooling decisions.
- Organizational & Team Leadership – Build and lead a multi-layered team of Managers, Leads, and Senior ICs, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
- Execution & Process Excellence – Translate strategy into an execution plan with structured projects, SOPs, SDLC, and ticketing processes to ensure smooth operations.
- Outcome Accountability – Own engineering results, define OKRs, and track structured metrics to measure and improve team performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with PMs, Support, Finance, HR, and customers to align execution plans with stakeholder expectations.
- Talent Development & Hiring – Attract, hire, and retain top talent, investing in their growth through structured onboarding, mentorship, and training programs.
- Performance & Culture – Define team goals, evaluate performance, provide feedback, and maintain a high-trust, transparent, and data-driven engineering culture.
- Innovation & Experimentation – Drive POCs, rapid experimentation, and a balance between process rigor and iterative, fast-paced delivery.
- Stakeholder management and Organizational connect - Partner with all stakeholders and ensure alignment between goals, stakeholder expectations and team’s execution plan
- External & Vendor Engagement – Represent the company professionally in external engagements, including vendor negotiations, partnerships, and customer interactions.
- Site Leadership – Coordinate site level activities for the well-being of the employees. Able to use soft influence to drive the charter within the site
- Employee well-being – Ensure the well-being of the employees and be the owner of employees' engagement in the site across departments and projects
Qualifications and Competencies
- Deep technical skills (in SaaS, Cloud, B2B)
- 15+ years of a proven track record driving growth in a leadership position
- Demonstrated leadership success in scaling teams and processes for a high growth start-up/scale-up
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Expert hiring manager skills and experience. Able to coach leads and senior engineers to hire the best talent
- Agile project management skills to continuously enhance the organisation’s productivity
- Customer oriented to drive innovative solutions
- Experience in cross functional leadership (like HR or admin) beyond engineering will be a major plus
- Experience with global companies and working with different cultures is essential. Managing work across multiple time zones (USA and Asia).
- Skilled in multiple areas of engineering including Site Reliability engineering, Quality Engineering, Software engineering.
