GIS Analyst

Job Overview

As a GIS Analyst at Chronicle, you will help preserve history and honor lives by transforming old cemetery diagrams and records into precise GIS formats for our Chronicle app. In this role, you’ll convert diverse datasets, produce clear maps and figures, manage and analyze geographic data, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all information uploaded. Your work directly supports cemetery managers in maintaining reliable records and creating meaningful, interactive maps that help communities remember and celebrate the departed.

Job Description

Responsibilities include and are not limited to

Map and Data Conversion:

• Interpret and accurately convert historical cemetery records including drone aerial imagery, headstone photographs, old diagrams and maps, scanned books, data from other cemetery software, and digital files such as Excel grids, CAD drawings, Access databases, and handwritten notes into Chronicle’s standard formats for use in the Chronicle app.

Map and Data Integration:

• Consolidate and integrate disparate datasets from various converted and existing digital sources.
• Match all geographic and tabular data to high-resolution drone imagery to create a unified, comprehensive, and finalized cemetery map product.

Map and Figure Production:

• Produce clear, accurate, and analytical maps and figures from complex geographic and tabular data.

Technology Integration:

• Utilize AI tools for tasks such as plot drawing, record editing, headstone transcription, and book scan transcription to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workload.
• Proactively identify and propose process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance individual and team efficiency

Efficiency and Quality Contribution

• Apply meticulous attention to detail in all data production and quality-checking, ensuring the final output is flawlessly accurate against supplied source material.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Conduct thorough data analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure the integrity of data uploaded to the Chronicle app.
• Generate comprehensive reports on data quality, conversion progress, and identified issues.

Requirements

• Min. 2 years of work experience in GIS
• Experienced in using QGIS
• Experience in SQL database analysis
• Advanced skills in Excel for database analysis, cleaning, and repurposing
• Experienced in generating CAD in previous projects
• Experienced in processing drone imagery using Agisoft or Pix4D
• Eagerness and aptitude to learn and effectively utilize new AI tools and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy in GIS workflows.
• Ability to work independently and team player
• Ability to communicate clearly, as well as express ideas in a structured manner, both verbally and in writing
• Excellent report writing and oral communication skills in English
• Willing to relocate to Bali
