Senior Welding Engineer

Job Overview:

Responsible for the Welding School and Production Welding Engineers.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

This shall include but not limited to:

• Controlling all activities taking place in the Welding School
• Liaising with Production and Welding Engineering Departments to ensure timely testing of welders
• Liaising with the Welding Engineering Department in the running of Welding Procedures on the yard
• Ensuring that regular checks are made on the handling and storage of welding consumables on the
  yard
• Ensuring that welding processes are monitored throughout the yard
• Ensuring the Welders Performance is monitored to identify problems areas
• Working with Welding Engineering Department in the monitoring and reduction of weld repair rates
• Ensuring that welding plant is available to production as required and monitoring its status
• Monitoring consumable type and usage
• Controlling the welding and testing required for welder qualifications
• Ensuring and being vigilant - that welding on shops/erections areas are in accordance to established
  WPS in order to avoid rework
• Implementation/availability of "Method Statements" on the shop floor and erection areas when deemed
  essential
• Coordination of any project specific situations requiring clarification/concessions affecting "production"
  on shop floor/areas
• Initiating/putting together ideas and plans with the goal to enhance productivity and efficiency of
  welding processes, equipment’s, and personnel
• On regular basis attending meeting with all the PMT/clients to represent yard production welding issues
  (if any)
• High standard of safe working practice, quality and productivity as well as compliance with the code of
  business conducts
• Prepares specific work instructions, method statements, welding procedure specifications, procedure
  qualification records, welder's certificates and other welding related documents
• Performs specific welding audits and monitors project welding activities in the yard
• Provide technical support during project execution
• Troubleshoot and provide solutions to welding problems
• Liaise with Client representative & 3rd Party inspector to resolve welding issues (if any)
• Estimate and maintain cost tracking of project welder and welding procedure qualification program
• Responsible for estimating, cost control and monitoring usage of welding consumables
• Monitor and check the receipt, storage, handling and issuance of welding consumable
• Monitor welder qualifications, perform visual inspection of welder test coupon and prepare welder
  certificates

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Possess Undergraduate Degree
