Frontend engineering manager

Job Summary: As a Frontend Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of skilled frontend developers to deliver high-quality, visually stunning, and highly responsive applications. Your role involves overseeing the development process, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with design, backend, and product management teams to ensure successful implementation of user-centric features. This position is ideal for someone with a strong frontend technical background and proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Development
• Lead and mentor a team of frontend engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and provide feedback to support team members’ professional development.
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top frontend engineering talent.
• Project Management
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to define frontend requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
• Plan and prioritize projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Track progress, resolve blockers, and ensure projects are delivered on time.
• Technical Guidance & Best Practices
• Provide technical direction for frontend architecture, frameworks, and toolsets to maintain high standards for code quality.
• Ensure best practices in testing, performance optimization, and maintainability.
• Stay updated with emerging frontend technologies and drive continuous improvement and adoption of new methodologies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with backend engineers to ensure smooth integration of frontend and backend components.
• Facilitate effective communication between frontend engineers and other teams, such as product, UX/UI, and QA.
• Code Review & Quality Assurance
• Oversee code reviews to ensure code quality, scalability, and adherence to industry standards.
• Drive efforts in maintaining a clean codebase, including refactoring, documentation, and tech debt management.
• User-Centered Development
• Prioritize user experience and accessibility, ensuring that applications are responsive, visually engaging, and perform well across all devices and browsers.
• Advocate for best practices in UI/UX to ensure high-quality interfaces and seamless user interactions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in frontend development with a strong background in JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• 2+ years in a leadership or management role within a frontend or software engineering team.
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha).
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects, with a strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on team mentorship and cross-functional cooperation.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with TypeScript and/or WebAssembly.
• Knowledge of mobile-first and responsive design principles.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices.
• Background in backend technologies and RESTful API integration is a plus.
